Viruses are very special creatures. They are not included anywhere in the five kingdom classification of Whittaker, and hardly are considered living, though they cause the most distress.
Viruses, firstly, not having a nucleus, do not contain any cell organelles or seem to have life, except an RNA - Ribo Nucleic Acid. They function only when they enter a cell, and control the cell, forcing it to divide rapidly, spreading the virus throughout the body. Viruses don't have the processes nutrition, egestion, respiration, growth or reproduction, the latter only taking place in a living cell of another organism.
Due to all these factors, the viruses have been exempted from the Whittaker's five kingdom classification.
