why viruses cannot reproduce outside a living cell

viruse cannot reproduce outside a living cell because itneed food to reproduce and it can not get food . the cellular organisation and machinery necessary for the reproduction and other living activities. They are dead outside the living cell and only multiply inside the living cells of host by using its cellular machinery.
