1)Substances that are not digested. Minerals, vitamins and water are already small enough to be absorbed by the body without being broken down, so they are not digested. Digestive enzymes cannot break down dietary fibre, which is why the body cannot absorb it.

2)It is the process of breaking down of large lipid droplets into small droplets. This provides a larger surface area on which enzyme pancreatic lipase can act to digest the fats into fatty acids and glycerol which are easily absorbed through small intestines. Bile salts are extremely important for emulsification of fats.
