Why volume of a substance increases with increase in temperature?

An increase in temperature caused the water molecules to gain energy and move more rapidly, which resulted in water molecules that are farther apart and an increase in water volume. ... As water cools, it contracts and decreases in volume. When water decreases in volume, it becomes more dense.      hope that helps :)

answer--

increase in temperature leads to increase in kinetic energy of the molecules and they are at very high energy as such they move or exert force farther apart
