15 august 1947 chosen as the date of power transfer by Viceroy Mountbatten because ;
The Muslim League and the Indian princes refused to participate in the working of the Constituent Assembly. The former stepped up its demand of separate country for the Muslims. Lord Mountbatten came to India in March 1947 as the new Viceroy. He presented a plan according to which India was to be divided into two countries- India and Pakistan.
The princely states could join either.

Firstly 3 june is planned to declare the date of independence but astrologers across the country said this date is not good date according to this 3 june is not announced as the date of independence but not only this because Lord Mountbatten deciced that 15 August will be the date.He belive that 15 August is the lucky date for his carrier because on 15 August 1945 is the date on which japanese army surrendered before him.
