why was 26th jan selected by motilal nehru for purna swaraj

At its Lahore session, dec. 1929, the Congress passed the resolution on purna swaraj or complete independence and declared that the last sunday of jan 1930, which happened to be on 26 jan would be celebrated as independence day.
