.After the events of Heroes of Olympus Zeus finds out that all forms of communications and the oracles are down he know that if he asks Apollo to do something about it then he would just send some demigods on a quest. And the quest would definitely fail as it wasn't something that could have been handled by demigods alone. He also needed Apollo to learn to handle his Oracles properly. This was the reason for Zeus to turn Apollo to a mortal this was required for him to actually do something about the problem and solve it himself to earn his place on Olympus. Thanks for reading.
