Aram was in a nostalgic mood because he fondly recapitulated an incident of his life when he was nine years old.

EXPLANATION:

In the story ‘The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse’ by William Saroyan , the first person protagonist – Aram looks back at one of his childhood memories when he was nine years old and was with his adventurous and equestrian cousin Mourad. Mourad had stolen a beautiful white horse from one of his neighbours’ stables, tamed it and made it fit for riding.

He let his cousin Aram into his secret, and the two of them would ride on it early in the morning. Aram was mesmerised by its beauty and being just a small boy romanticised his experiences with the horse. Later in life when he reflected on that experience he was always nostalgic.
