Bastille was a jail situated in Paris which represented the royal authority at the heart of the city of Paris. There were only seven inmates in the prison when it was destroyed. It's destruction also signified the destruction of the abuses by monarchy.

Bastille was hated by all because it stood for the despotic power of the king. It was demolished in 14th July 1789 by the French citizens to protest against Louis XVI
