Answer:

• On July 14 1789 , a rumour was spread among the people in Francrpe that king has ordered his troops to open fire at people.

• More that 7000 people including women gathered in front of the town hall and stormed the castle in seach of arms ( basically to protect themselves from the attack).

• They then stormed the Bastille jail which represented the despotic rule of the king where the commander of Bastille was killed and 7 prisoners were released.

• The Bastille was destroyed and its fragment were sold as the souvenir of its destruction.

So we can conclude that the Bastille prison was attacked in search for ammunition to defend against the open fire ordered by king.
