The decision to effect the Partition of Bengal (Bengali: বঙ্গভঙ্গ) was announced on 19 July 1905 by the Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon. The partition took place on 16 October 1905 and separated the largely Muslim eastern areas from the largely Hindu western areas

The process of bifurcation af Bengal and to annex one lat of it into Assam is historically known as Partition of Bengal. It tool place in 16th Oct, 1905 where Bengal was divuded into two parts Western Bengal and East Bengal and
Assam. After partition Western areas comprised of era Western Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. The partition of Bengal was seen as the British tatic of "Divide and Rule" policy. The reason for such partition was started as to run this administration smoothly but in reality to attempt was made by the British to dilute the demand for independence. Later Bengal was united once again in 1911.
