In July, 1945, the labour party came to power in England with Attlee as the Prime Minister. He was opposed to the British rule over India. Therefore Attlee, sent the cabinet mission to India on march 24, 1946 in order to discuss and finalize plans between the congress and the Muslim League for the transfer of power from British to the Indian leadership.
