The East India Company were keen on expanding textile exports from India during 1760 because of its demand in Europe. Indian textile favored in Europe because of its quality and comfort than the woolen. The cotton mills in England during this period not  expanded. Exporting Indian textile was profitable for the Britishers as they made their wealth out of it.
