why was edla happy to see the gift left by peddler

Hey !!

Edla was quite upset when she heard of the news at the church about a crofter's money being stolen by a man who went around selling rat traps. Her father was sure that the peddler would have stolen all their fine silver spoon. But when she reached home she found that the peddler has left thirty kronors to be returned back to the crofter and a letter of praise of Edla thanking her for her hospitality. This made her very happy.
