Why was Gandhi considered the most famous Asian nationalist?

Gandhi was the leader of Indian independence struggle , his non violence method of SATYAGRAHA and SWADESHI .is the weaking of the hearted between Hindu and Muslim religious.and March against British Empire for the protest of monopoly on the salt.
And many other revolutionary things considere Gandhi as most famous Asian nationalist.
