Gandhiji in his autobiography said that he once tried smoking when he was a teenager.

  • Gandhiji tried smoking as he wanted to feel like a grown-up man.
  • He saw his uncle smoking when he was a kid and made the assumption that grown-up men smoke.
  • In his time barristers and maharajas used to drink wine and even he had alcohol.
  • When he was in his teens one of his friends started smoking and his desire to smoke developed but empty pockets did not support their desire so it got fulfilled when he grew up.
