Grandfather was impressed with Toto as he found him good looking and clever.

Explanation:Toto was clever in the eyes of grandfather as when he was kept in a little closet whose walls were covered with ornamental paper,he  naked the wall,narrator's blazer was also hanging there to which he converted into shreds,peg of wall was also wrenched from it's socket.These things were annoying for the narrator but for grandfather these things appeared to be as signs of cleverness as he thought that Toto was about to make a rope using the shreds of blazer and would escape from the window.

Now as we know that Toto had a tail.For grandfather a tail adds good looks to anyone and it also serves as a third hand.In this way Toto was considered to be good looking.

All these things made grandfather impressed with Toto.
