After being at home for only ten days, Gulliver is visited by a ship captain who invites him on a voyage departing in two months. Gulliver convinces his wife that this is a good opportunity and sets off, again working as the surgeon.

After they sail for three days, a storm arises, driving the ship to the north-northeast, where they are attacked by pirates. They are unable to defend themselves. Gulliver insults the captain of the pirate ship and as punishment is set adrift in "a small Canoe, with Paddles and a Sail, and four Days Provisions." On the fifth day of sailing in his canoe, Gulliver reaches a small island ,Laputa, where he spends the night in restless sleep.

Gulliver is invited by Captain William Robinson to be the surgeon of the ship Hopewell. He was to have an authority equal to the ship's captain because of his experience. The captain was a brotherly man and offered to double Gulliver's pay. Gulliver could not refuse this advantageous offer and agreed.
They set sail and soon reached Tonquin where the captain had to stay to trade his goods. He sent Gulliver and his men on a sloop to continue the journey to the East Indies. But soon they were caught in a storm and thereafter were chased by pirates. There were two pirate ships, one led by Dutch men and the other by Japanese. Gulliver pleaded to the Dutch men but was rudely shunned. His pleading had angered the Dutchmen who wanted to kill him but later decided, with the influence of the Japanese captain, to send Gulliver adrift on a small boat with four days worth of provisions.
Gulliver soon found a group of islands and reached the shore of one. He jumped from one island to another saving his provision and eating whatever he could find on the islands.
One day while he rested in a cave and had almost given up on himself he noticed a big opaque object in the sky which covered the sun.
He took a closer look at it and was amazed to see that it was a flying island. As soon as he spotted people above he shouted for help. The people soon noticed him and took Gulliver up onto the flying island of Laputa.

Hope this helped!!
