The happy prince remembered that when he was alive he was not allowed to go out his palace. Everyone in the palace was happy and enjoyed their lives. Sadness was not allowed to enter into the palace. So the happy prince would always be happy. But when he died and his statue was made there he saw the kingdom and was sad to know that all the people of his kingdom were not happy. There was misery and many problems which needed to be fixed that's why he was so sad and tears rolled down his golden cheeks.
