It was difficult for the artisans and craft persons to follow Jainism because it is based on 'Ahinsa' which said not to harm anyone even the plant and the farmers need to cut and harm plants for their earnings and so, happened with the artisans. This is why, it was difficult for them to follow Jainism.

Jainism was mainly based on the principal of Ahimsa also it was required that Jain adaptar don't kill any animal, insect etc but for farmers it is required to kill insects for their crops
