Kandla port was developed because -

• Kandla port is a major port of the Gujarat which is used for the shipment purposes of the Gujarat's industrial sectors. In this way,the industrial sectors of the Gujarat is becomes independent and don't need the contribution of the Mumbai port.

• The foreign shipments are now distributed between Kandla and Mumbai port. In this way, the traffic in the western coast is reduced due to the even distribution of the traffic. This is also a reason behind the development of the Kandla port.
