why was lord Mountbatten choosen as the first governer general of India ??

India was part of commonwealth and governor general was representative of queen. Mountbatten was governor general before independence; so, he was preferred ! Raja Ji was second governor general of independent India. Never the less after India became republic; President or Rastrapati ji became head of nation
