Answer:

These protests were against giving government jobs to certain castes on basis of birth rather than merit of the candidate. Protests began during the year when the eleven-year-old Mandal Commission was opened to bring into effect new government employment opportunities, reservation for backwards classes.

Because it is one of the most foolish step ever taken by any worthy ruler. Now our country is in such a stage where this malice will never be eradicated .In stead steps would have been taken to enhance the capability levels ,then it would have created big & remarkable results .Now there r people in this reserve category who r still getting this benefit though they r class very high & holding high positions.Who will like to disown this benefit where as there many many sufferers in this so called high class category where people need some security but are left on their fate because of this biased politics of our political parties .Will there be ever end to this probably not never & sufferers if in one type will be benefitted the sufferers in other class will ever remain sufferers .So if this would have applied with proper logic & thoughts ,then it would have been a welcome step.
