The Meselsohn-Stahl experiment was carried out in 1958 and supported Watson and Crick's hypothesis that DNA replication was semi-conservative. In semi-conservative replication of DNA, the original DNA molecule splits into two separate strands, each of which then replicates its “mirror image” (the missing half).
