heya mate.
Tricki was seen by Mr Herriot when it was standing by its owner(Mrs pumphrey ).He saw it unhealthy,fat and it couldnt move easily due to obesity.That is why Mr Herriot was socked at tricki appearance.

Mrs. Pumphery was a caretaker of dogs. Tricki was a dog.
The caretaker gave tricki a lot of food which includes wine, cream biscuits, bread. Fatty food was given in abundance for poor trick.
Mrs.Pumphery even gave Tricki Horlicks and liver-oil.
James Herriot was a veterinary surgeon. He was shocked to see tricki as he was very dull.
He was very lazy as he was overfed and even had signs of vomiting. Mr. Herriot was shocked as his tummy was very much full and was bloated.
