mrs. slater was so angry on victoria because as she needed to outshine herself to her sister as well as to ben she wanted everyone to be in the mourning dress before her arrival of her sister mrs elizabeth. but victoria was not ready in her mourning dress and she was quite sure about her that she would not wear the black mourning dress. this is the reason why mrs. slater got anger in her daughter
