Napoleon did not favor democracy, that's for sure, although he ran one or two plebiscites to uphold his rule. But I question the “democratic foundations” of the French Revolution. ... Why did the French Revolution oust the French monarch, but allow Napoleon Bonaparte to take over as dictator....
