Why was Nehru so much attached the ganga and yamuna?

Neheruji was fond of his motherland and he always remembered these two rivers as the emblem of India. He was from Allahabad and there he saw both the rivers from his childhood days. He could feel the legacy of the country in the flow of these two rivers. It was altogether a spiritual connection he felt and so he wanted to get merged in these two rivers after his demise.
