HEY,

After the war in 1812, the following forty years was a giant leap for New Orleans as it became a key hub for trade and started serving as a cotton port. In fact, this period was the city’s golden age. The first steamboat reached the port in 1812. This number increased to 400 in the next three decades, triggering a massive growth in e-commerce. This has made her the fourth biggest port in the world in terms of her volume of trade, especially exports. Today, the only other ports that are ahead in trade are London, Liverpool and New York.
