✨Nicola was not pleased when Jacopo asked the narrator to drive them to poleta. This was because he was quiet self dependent and it hurt his self respect . he didn't like to accept favours from others. Thus , he stated at Jacopo in Vexation.

in the story 'two gentelmen of verona', when the narrator asked if he could help the two boys-nicola and jacopo; jacopo childishly replied that the wanted him to drive them to poleta. but, the elder brother nicola was nat pleased with it BECAUSE he was in the view of confining his problems to himself. he was afraid that if the narrator drove them to poleta,he would come to know about their ill sister. Another reason could be that he was self-esteemed and didn't like to take any sort of help from stranger.
