Why was Pluto removed from the category of planets?

First of all, Pluto was too small to be considered a planet. It was first referred to as dwarf planet and this is because of its size. Secondly it's orbit is different from those of the other planets. Its orbit intersects be orbits of other planets too. So Pluto was removed from the category of planets of our solar system.
