Answer:

Pandita Ramabai was born in 1858 and orphaned in the famine of 1876-7. She came from a Marathi Brahmin family and was married in 1880 to a Brahmo Samajist, Bipin Behari Das Medhavi. ... Ramabai lectured on Sanskrit and the position of women in India and hence the title 'Pandita' was conferred onto her.

Answer:

Reason :-

She was the first woman to be awarded the titles of Pandita as a Sanskrit scholar and Sarasvati after being examined by the faculty of the University of Calcutta. She was one of the 10 women delegates of the Congress session of 1889. In the late 1890s, she founded Mukti Mission at Kedgaon village, forty miles east of the city of Pune. The mission was later named Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission.

Additional reasons :-

  • The olden days of India were good but not so much favourable to the women.
  • Girls were not allowed to go to school.
  • Women are not even allowed to step outside their houses.
  • Child marriages were a common thing.
  • Sati was practiced.
  • Kanyasulkam was common.

So,in the midst of the above situations she went out from her house and took her studies and became a great scholar of India of those times.

Hope it helps
