Lakshmibai was given a pension and told to leave the palace and fort. The Rani of Jhansi rose to prominence during India's first war of independence in 1857. The rebellion started as a sepoy mutiny on May 10, 1857, in Meerut, and then spread to other parts of northern and central India.

Rani of jhansi was told by british to leave his fort and kingdome and forsed her to hand over the rule and fort to british hand .As we know that she was not having her own child .british had made rule that those who does not have their own child ,their kingdome were taken off. Thats why she was involved in the revolte of 1857 .
