Santosh did not agree with the traditional way of life and chose to make her own paths because she was both determined and convinced to do so.

Santosh Yadav was a child with her own mind. She wanted to live ‘on her own terms’. Quite contrary to her name, which means ‘satisfaction’ or ‘contentment’, Santosh was not one to blindly adopt the life chosen for a girl. She took a stand, right from what kind of clothes she wore and in her own way fought against the expectations that society had from girls. She wore shorts instead of feminine clothing, refused to get married at the age of sixteen, and gave education a lot of importance.

Santosh believed that no one could object to her choosing a ‘correct and a rational path’ and that was when the others would have to mould themselves according to her, rather than her trying to be the traditional girl.
