Balkan consists of present day Albania, Bulgaria, bosnia-harzegovina , Croatia , Macedonia , Montenegro , Greece , Romania , solvenia , Serbia . their people are called Slavs. it was ruled by ottoman empire. By the early 20th century, these states had achieved independence from the Ottoman Empire, but large elements of their ethnic populations remained under Ottoman rule. these states were so jealous of other and wants to annex and expand their boundaries which was interrupted by outside powers like Russia , Germany, britain which finally led world war first
