Hey mate here is your answer:
________________________
Upto the seventeenth century the flow of Indian cotton and silken cloth continued in full swing. But in the early eighteenth century the wool and silk producers of England began to protest against the import of India textiles due to various certain reasons.
Because of those certain reasons the British government had to pass an act in 1720, known as Calico act . As a result of this act the use of printed cotton textiles , particularly the ' chintz' was banned. The industry was set up in Calicut on Kerala coast , this is the reason why the act got it's name Calico Act.
