For sometimes anhilwad Patan remained the capital of Gujarat just for namesake . During the Sultanate era Ahmedshah established the new city of Ahmedabad on the banks of river Sabarmati in 1411C.E.For the security of his Kingdom and for convenience of Administration . He shifted the capital from Anhilwad Patan to Ahmedabad .
