the Annual meeting of Indian national congress was being held .rajkumar sukla from champaran apprised Gandhi ji of appealing condition of share croppers. there Gandhi ji reached there. he came to know that large estate were owned by the English men and the Indians worked as their tenant farmers .they were required to pay 15% of there land yields. Gandhi ji and lawyer investigated into the grievances of the farmers .the Britishers decided that 25% of the money would be refunded .

Gandhi considerred the champaran episode to be a turning point in his life because he realised that civil disobedience,which had triumphed for the frist time,could go a long way in the freedom struggle. Moreover, he had succeeded in making the peasants aware of their rights and becoming confident.
