The cherry tree was so special to Rakesh because it was a source of joy.

Rakesh had been involved in taking care of it and Rakesh and his grandfather enjoyed its presence. Rakesh had planted the cherry tree when his grandfather had suggested so. Though he forgot about it, Rakesh got immense joy when he discovered that the seed had indeed grown into a plant.

Through the years, Rakesh would keep a check on the tree's height and age. It became a companion to him, and also to numerous other creatures. The cherry tree also bore fruit. The tree gave him pleasure and will continue to do so.

Answer:

Why was the cherry tree so special for Rakesh?

ĺ

  • The given question is taken from the text The Cherry Tree.

  • Ruskin Bond is famous for his wonderful writings or creations and The Cherry Tree is one of them.

  • The cherry tree was so special for Rakesh because his grandfather advised him to plant the last seed of the bunch of cherries which Rakesh bought on his way home from school for fifty paise and following his grandfather's advise he planted it.

  • It means Rakesh had deep feelings for the cherry tree.

  • Rakesh knew that his cherry tree faced many problems like goat, mantis, caterpillar and so on.

  • Instead of many problems the cherry tree grew tall and 'there was a pale pink blossom at the end of a branch.'

  • It makes clear when Rakesh asked his grandfather 'why do we love it so much?' And his grandfather replied : 'We planted it ourselves.' That is why the cherry tree was so special for Rakesh.
