Nanking is a Eastern city in China which is close to Shanghai. During the second Sino-Japanese War in 1937, the city of Nanking was invaded and taken over by the Imperial Japanese Army.
The Japanese had attacked China had marched from Shanghai towards Nanking. They had fought and won from the Chinese resistance on the way. As the Japanese moved towards the city of Nanking, the Chinese forces got weaker.
The Chinese leader, removed the Chinese armed forces from the city of Nanking, which left the people of the city vulnerable to the Japanese attack. The Chinese Army was called off and the Japanese Army occupied the city.
This led to the Nanking Massacre which was mass murder and mass rape of the people of Nanking by the Japanese troops.
