why was the education Bengali intelligentsia apathetic to the rebels of the Revolt of 1857?

Because modern educated Indians had this thought (or disillusion or expectation) that the British rule will actually make India’s progress more and so will there status and life and economy……

Yes!! the modern educated Indians thought that British aren’t all in just for India’s vast wealth and use it as a importer of British Industries finished goods and exporter of great quality raw material in cheap prices but its just they weren’t aware of the condition of the India and the native people and that once they know they will be in better position to help us instead of we on our own….

This is about the common modern educated people of India and about Raja, Zamindar well they knew they aren’t all loved and appreciated either and that once British rule goes away they might also stop prospering in the ideal, free society that the people want.
