THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT WAS FORCED TO INCREASE THE TAXES BECAUSE WHEN LOUIS XVI BECAME THE KING HE FOUND THAT HIS TRESURY WAS EMPTY...IT HAD BEEN EMPTY BECAUSE OF THE LONG WARS AGAINST BRITAIN..SO TO FULFIL HIS OWN REQUIREMENTS AND TO MAINTAIN THE PALACE OF VERSAILES HE NEEDED MONEY HE MANAGED FOR THIS MONEY BY INCREASING THE TAXES.
