Under the Inland Emigration Act of 1859 plantation workers were not permitted to leave the tea garden. They were rarely getting this type of permission. Many of plantation workers tried to move from field but they were caught by Britishers.

Plantation workers interpret the ideas of swaraj to move in and out of plantation and freedom to visit their native places.
