We cut trees for two basic reasons. One,we want the wood for lumber to build houses, or to make paper, or to make other manufactured products. ... Two the other basic reason we cut trees is to get them OUT OF THE WAY so as to use the land for other purposes. You can't really farm land with a lot of trees on it.
