Answer:

Non Cooperation Movement was called off because of Chauri-Chaura Incident. The Chauri Chaura incident happened on 5th Feb 1922 in Gorakphur Dist, when a group of protesters , participants of Non Cooperation Movement clashed with the local police.

The police open fired on the protesters, which was followed by heavy retaliation from the protesters, who later ended up burning the police station, Killing 22 policemen.

Gandhi led the Non Cooperation movement to protest against the British, for their cowardly act at Jalianwala Bagh of Amritsar. He wished the movement to be violence free, and with the violence being stuck at Chauri Chaura, Gandhi had no other option than to call off Non Cooperation Movement.
