Why was the non cooperation movement called off in 1922 give reasons?

The non cooperation movement was withdrawn because of the chauri chairs incident . Although he had stopped the national revolt single handedly ,on 10 March 1992, Gandhi was arrested. On 18_3-1922, he was imprisoned for six years for publishing seditious materials.
