WHY WAS THE PERIOD BETWEEN AD 400-1500 KNOW AS THE DARK AGES IN EUROPE?

Because in this period the Europeans blindly belived the church popes.. where they even think about that and follow them. Pay taxes to churches and follow there rule.....
