why was the position of hydrogen not fixed in Mendeleev periodic table

Because hydrogen is a metal or non metal it was not fixed because he has a valence electron 1 and he will always ready to share its electrons to other atom to completes there octaves...

it was because of dual nature of hydrogen having its properties matching to group1 and group 7 elements.Think it will help u.
