Why was the procession of ‘Siddhhem Shabdanushasan’ carried out on an elephant?

Siddhhem Shabdanushasan‟ was the first grammar book in literature written by Hemchandracharya during the time of Siddhraj Jaysinh.

It was considered to be a revelation in grammar.

The book was bestowed with a lot of respect and thus was kept  on the back of an elephant. There was also a procession organised in the city.

Siddhraj Jaisinh requested to Acharya Hemchandra to write a grammar superior tp that of Bhoj. With in a year Hemchandra Acharya wrote an exhaustive volume of Grammar entitled Siddhemchandra Shabdanushashan containing one lakh and twenty five thousand shlokas covering the grammar of Prakrit and Apabhramsha languages as well.
