The Second Battle of Panipat was significant because in this battle the Afghan power of Hemu the Chief Minister and General of Adil Shah was crushed by the Mughal power under Akbar who was under the regency of Bairam Khan. This battle removed the threat from Akbar's throne in 1556 CE
